Planned Giving

The Cathedral Parish of today has been made possible by the generous contributions of parishioners going as far back as 1887.

The enormous sum of 40,000 pounds was raised to build the Cathedral, whose foundation stone was laid in 1892, with construction taking some 15 years to complete.

To maintain that legacy, we continue to seek the generosity of our community members of visitors to operate and maintain the facilities of the parish. We seek to ensure our facilities are relevant and continue to provide a safe space into the future.

Today, the Cathedral Parish needs to be able to fund:

  • Everyday expenses of administration, staff wages and utilities.
  • Pastoral expenses (Sacramental programs, Catechists in State Schools, Youth Ministry, RCIA).
  • General maintenance and repairs,painting and upkeep of building surfaces;
  • Major project capital works to continue to build and serve our community.

For continued financial viability, our Parish seeks support through the planned giving program and one-off donations.

Direct Debit

The direct debit program allows parishioners to support parish finances with a commitment to donate funds at regular intervals. Parishioners can donate through monthly credit or debit card donations. Registration forms are available at the back of the church and though the Parish Office.

Plate Collections

Plate collections have been an essential part of our history. We appreciate your continued generosity, especially as cost of living pressure is having an impact on household budgets and on our parish budgets.

For cash planned giving, weekly donation envelopes can be provided for you. Please contact the office to request an annual set.

We currently use the traditional method of plate collection, and have recently introduced a tap-and-go system at the Cathedral and Our Lady Help of Christians.

Bequests

Many of our parishes and pastoral initiatives exist today because of the generosity of those who came before us. By leaving a gift in their Will, they ensured that future generations could continue to grow in faith and community.

Having a Will also ensures your wishes are clearly honoured and provides peace of mind for your loved ones.

Our team is here to walk with you, helping you explore how your faith can bear fruit for years to come, and ensuring your intentions are carried out with care, respect, and gratitude.

Your legacy will be a light for generations to come.

If you would like to consider leaving a bequest to the Parish, please contact the Parish Business Manager or the Parish Administrator. Confidential enquiries can be submitted to pbm@stcarthages.org.au.
